SOPA Thoughts

My SOPA position: I've spent many years fighting on behalf of protecting intellectual property. Many of the people I see/hear criticizing SOPA seem to be people who stand to gain and not to lose should we just follow the trend of ignoring copyright laws/protection/respect. We don't expect to walk into a store and take what we want without paying, and I haven't heard many say that they would enjoy working for nothing because others might not want to pay for what it is they have decided to dedicate their time and talent to. I agree with President Obama on this issue. There are parts of the bill that are unacceptable but something must be done to protect intellectual property. I would be much more comfortable with this discussion if people were actually discussing ethics, morals, decency, and how to protect/respect the work of others. I'm disappointed that we arrived at this dangerous crossroads because people cared so little or so long - stealing music, writing, art, etc. And I resent the hell out of sites (like Gather) who refused to stand up for what was right because it required them to actually care about people before profit.

Survived the 2,000th Republican Primary Debate

Based only on what I saw tonight, I rank the candidates in this order (if I had to choose one for president): Huntsman, Gingrich, Perry, Paul, Santorum. If I had to marry one, it would be Huntsman. If I had to send one to live in China, it would be Gingrich. I'd most like to have a beer with Paul, want to see Perry on Dancing With the Stars, and would erase Santorum from existence.

The omission of Mitt Romney is not accidental. I refuse to believe that fake person is real. If by some weird chance he is, I rank him between Paul and Santorum.

Regarding the Republican primary candidates:

I think I understand what is happening. When Bush ran as a total idiot against Gore, a brilliant man, losers said they couldn't see the difference politically/intellectually and liked Bush because he looked like a fun idiot to get drunk with. Then, after ten more years of dumbing down, they brought out the Annie Oakley Brigade and women who weren't even blonde decided they liked Sarah and her clones because she was "just like me". These are people who don't have a clue so they're thrilled to elect total idiots "just like me" so they can believe that they, too, are smart enough to be president.
